We start the season on the first Monday after the kids go back to school. This year was Sept 9th. And we run straight through until June 25th with our Year End show being on June 27th

Our Year End Show is performed at Meadowvale Theatre located at 6315 Montevideo Dr in Mississauga. Our entire studio performs in the show and all students together, Competitive and Recreational, get to be a part of our exciting Finale!

There is one teacher and 2 student assistants per class. The assistants are an extra set of eyes as well as supervision in the classroom and they help with giving the dancers more of a one-on-one experience. Assistants in the classroom gives students clear demonstrations of what the teacher expects them to work toward. It also provides them with familiarity and comfort during their class time.

Assistants are present on stage at the year end show with the younger dancers aged 2.5-4 years old to help them remember their choreography without looking out into the wings. This has been proven to be very effective and dancers feel more confidant while on stage.

We usually invite parents in for the first few minutes on the first day to ensure the child is comfortable. Parents are then welcome to stay in the lobby and at times peek in on the closed-circuit camera located in the studio office. There is a Parents’ Week in December where all parents are invited to observe any and all of their dancers’ classes.

We welcome dancers as young as age 2.5 years old depending on the child and their abilities.

All classes are 1 hour in length except Little Ballerinas, which is 45 min long.

Your child’s teachers will come into the lobby between classes and you are always free to ask any questions you may have. You will be updated on your child’s progress throughout the year and recommendations may be made for additional classes.

All dancers will need to audition in the summer before the season begins and are chosen to be a part of the team. Teachers may make recommendations to parents when they feel a dancer is ready to start training at a competitive level but there is no obligation.

Our full-time competitive dancers are currently dancing for 11-12 hours per week in class plus additional hours for extra choreography. All competitive team dancers must take 2 Exam Ballet classes and 1 Company Ballet class. They also train in all other disciplines. (Jazz, Acro, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary) We compete in 4 competition and attend 2-3 workshops per season.

For their safety and professionalism, all dancers should attend their classes wearing proper dance attire/shoes and with hair pulled back neat and tidy. For ballet, hair must always be pulled back into a bun. Please see our dress code page for full details.

At RDC we pride ourselves on the fact that all of our dance teachers are fully trained and certified in multiple disciplines. Not every studio uses certified Acrobatic instructors which will teach your child proper warm up, technique and proper execution of tricks. Without a certified acro instructor it could be very unsafe for your child.

Not all studios have fully qualified Ballet instructors either, so your dancer will not be able to take part in graded exams which will help them progress and have something to work toward. We are happy to share our Teacher’s Bios on our Faculty Page.
